Christian Education-6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Confirmation:

The 6th & 7th Grade Confirmation Class is using Jesus 101, a curriculum developed by Craig Lincoln. Each fall the class raises money to buy and wrap presents for We Care families for Christmas, Each spring the class raises money to purchase Bibles and presents them to the preschools, 3rd grades, and new Confirmands of the church.

The 8th Grade Confirmation Class uses the Cokesbury Confirmation Curriculum, Claim the Name, focusing on the faith portion. The class has a mentoring program which focuses on applying what we learn to real life. Students also assist 6th & 7th grade students with We Care families. Students attend a retreat at Wesley Woods in January, as well as complete a service project. Each person is required to complete 15 hours of service by working on activities like Turkey Supper, Corn Fest, or serving as an Acolyte.

Christian Education-High School:

This class is laid back and free form. It's a place where senior highs can explore their faith in a supportive environment. Each year, in conjunction with ASP,  the high school class participates in Corn Fest by selling pork burgers to help raise money for their mission trips.

Adult Sunday School:

The Issues Class tackles a variety of topics and current events. Each week, a rotating facilitator brings a topic to share with the class. It's wonderful having different perspectives on a subject, due to the wide range of ages and life experiences represented in each class. You'll enjoy the relaxed environment and Christian viewpoint as shared by regular folks. We meet at 10:30 A.M. in the Cry Room which is located just off the Sanctuary. Contact Lori Woodard or Sue Hall at 815-942-0809.

The Fellowship Class reads the words of Jesus in the scriptures and applies them to everyday life. The class is primarily a discussion group that talks about everything from the sermon and world events to personal issues in everyday life. There is no preparation needed for the class and the discussions are non judgmental as each member explores the teachings of Jesus and the implications for living. Join us as we always look forward to new members and new insight into what it means to be a Christian in today's world.

The Kitchen Class meets in the library and uses a Cokesbury Bible study.

Fellowship-Touch of Gray:

Touch of Gray is a senior citizen social group that meets at the church on the 3rd Friday of Sept.-Nov. and Jan.-Apr, or May. Members take turns hosting and choosing the main dish for a 6 P.M. potluck followed by games or a program. For additional information contact Shirley Casper or Sandy Wols.

Outreach-Prayer Shawl Ministry:

Shawls are symbolic of an inclusive, unconditional, loving God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter, and beautify. Many blessings are prayed into every shawl. The shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient. Upon completion a final blessing is offered before the shawl is sent on its way.

We always welcome new members. We also like to teach knitting and crocheting. We have a cabinet of yarn that has been given to the ministry that everyone is welcome to use. If you cannot attend on Wednesdays but would like to crochet or knit at home for the ministry, we can provide you information and patterns. Simply call the church office (815-942-0809) and leave your name and telephone number. A Prayer Shawl Ministry Team member will contact you.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry Team meets every Wednesday evening from 6-7 P.M. at the church.
